Vets First Choice has announced it recently acquired VetCentric, an online veterinary pharmacy based in Maryland. This deals marks the combination of the nation’s largest online veterinary partner pharmacy and marketing services provider, serving over 25,000 veterinary practices and over 25 million pet owners.
VetCentric, Vets First Choice, and MyVetsMeds are operated by Direct Vet Marketing, Inc., which is a national online veterinary partner-pharmacy and marketing services company. It is also the only one licensed in 48 states.
Benjamin Shaw, CEO of Direct Vet Marketing, Inc. and its Vets First Choice and VetCentric subsidiaries, stated, "We look forward to bringing the talents and capabilities of these two formidable companies together to create the market leading provider of partner-pharmacy services.
Direct Vet Marketing is headquartered in Portland, Maine and has pharmacy and service operations in Omaha, Nebraska, Wamego, Kansas, Glen Burnie, Maryland, and Phoenix, Arizona.
With increased competition from big box retailers and Internet pharmacies, the decrease of veterinary practice revenues, and increasing concerns about pet owner data privacy, the acquisition is viewed as a significant one. This union of Vets First Choice and VetCentric enables independent veterinary hospitals with the ability to offer clients a total range of competitively priced products from the pharmacy coupled with home delivery, online ordering, and assurance of data privacy and pharmacy practices with their clients.
