Polka Dog Bakery, a treat boutique for dogs, will be one of five United States specialty stores that will be participating in Target Corporation’s new The Shops at Target retail partnership program.
Brian Robinson, Target's director of fashion and design partnership, stated, “With The Shops at Target, we’re building on that sense of discovery by offering our guests a chance to experience one-of-a-kind specialty stores and boutiques through collections that have been specifically tailored to their wants and needs.”
The program debuts on May 6, 2012 at Target stores across the nation and on Targt.com. The program will feature co-created, limited edition exclusive collections across five different product categories.
Polka Dog Bakery’s collection will include natural dog treats along with accessories such as bowls, balls, collars, harnesses, and food mats. Robison hopes The Shops at Target will build towards the customer’s sense of discovery to experience boutiques and one-of-a-kind collections tailored to wants and needs.
Collections to be amongst the first at The Shops at Target will hail from San Francisco’s The Candy Store; Aspen, Colorado’s Cos Bar (cosmetics); Warren, Connecticut’s Privet House (home decor) and Miami Beach, Florida’s The Webster (fashion). A total of 400 products will be available in the five collection debut combined.
Polka Dog Bakery was founded as a tribute to the owner’s dog, Pearl, who was found as a stray outside of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Pearl had one eye and became an instant hit with the owners. In order to spoil her properly, the team designed gourmet treats, made by hand, and offer the same delicacies to their customers to this day. In addition to treats, Polka Dog Bakery offers apparel, dog gear, and gifts.
