Jenny Craig and Nestle Purina Combine Forces for Project Slim Down
Utilizing their combined strengths and efforts, Nestle Purina and Jenny Craig are working together to help owners and their animals with weight loss resolutions for 2012.
Veterinarians are able to get involved as well by obtaining clinic materials on the Nestle Purina Project: Slim Down website, which promotes pet weight loss and gives owners special offers for weight loss as well. At all of their locations, Jenny Craig Centers will promote the Project: Pet Slim Down program and give clients with pets special offers. The program kicked off January 1, 2012 and is slated to complete on March 31, 2012.
Registrants who also sign their pet up will receive a free 30-day program from Jenny Craig, plus the cost of food, according to the official website.
Elements of the Project: Pet Slim Down program include feeding software that vets can use to calculate feeding recommendations for one to two percent weekly weight loss, client educations, regular pet weigh-ins, product coupons, and rebates to encourage client compliancy.
When beginning an exercise regimen with a dog, always check with a veterinarian first and start slowly. Leisurely walks may be better suited for older dogs while younger dogs might have more energy for running or more vigorous exercise. Take caution with hot asphalt in the summer and snow and/or ice buildup on walkways in the winter months. Have plenty of water handy to keep Fido hydrated and ensure the dog’s exercise plan and dietary changes have been vet approved.
