Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council Reveals Some Conference Speakers
The Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council (PIJAC) of Washington, D.C., revealed a partial list of some of its conference speakers for 2012.
The Pet Industry’s Top to Top Conference, set for May 3-4, 2012, in La Jolla, California, will host speakers including a state of the industry and town hall meeting, hosted by Robert Moran, president and CEO of Petsmart, Bob Shipley, president and CEO of Hartz Mountain Corp., and Peter Weinstein, DVM, executive director of the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association.
In addition, Brad Weston, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer at Petco Animal Supplies, will lead a panel discussion on changing retail channels, including technology trends and new sources for pets.
Rounding out the speakers revealed are futurist Bob Johansen, past president and distinguished fellow for The Institute for the Future, who will speak about future trends and their impact on the pet industry; Wesley Smith, author of A Rat is a Pig is a Dog is a Boy; Dr. Bernard Rollin, animal ethicist, who will discuss the humane movement and the pet industry; and more speakers to be revealed.
