Dynamite Specialty Products recently announced the introduction of an all-natural low-grain dog food that is both corn and wheat free.
The dog food is packaged in a bag using a one-way valve that eliminates the introduction of air into the bag. This helps minimize oxidation of vitamins and helps them retain their nutritional qualities.
The protein quality in the dog food stems from raw meat cooked on site rather than a precooked meal that is cooked a second time during the manufacturing process. This second cooking cycle elimination means the food retains enzymes and vitamins retain more nutritional value, according to Jos Zamzow, chief operating officer of Dynamite.
Zamzow shared, “Dogs are not natural cereal grain eaters. They do best on a diet of meat. You will hear that dogs are omnivores, but the truth is that dogs are secondary omnivores. They rarely eat berries off a bush like bears and pigs. If you were to picture a dog running through a field of wheat, it would be eating mice on the ground, not the berries off the wheat. The only animals on the planet that really prefer cereal grains are small birds.”
The dog food is the latest in a line of efforts by Dynamite to create a natural dog food that does not trigger allergies and that dogs with diabetes can eat. The super premium dog food has an introductory price of $60 for a 40-pound bag. The company plans to introduce a completely grain-free dog food and an all-meat cat food in 2012.
Dynamite uses ingredients in its natural dog food that are made in the United States. Dynamite has a separate mill to produce feed for herbivores, such as horses and poultry that are especially sensitive to contamination from meat needed by other species such as dogs and cats. Manufacturing facilities are in Idaho and Iowa.
