In a recent article filed by Pet Product News, tips for merchandising holiday product in order to maximize sales are revealed.
Using one’s selling power comes heavily into play during the holiday season, and writer Julie Jacobs reveals changing a website for the holiday spirit is helpful. In addition, web surfers have a reason to stop in, visit, and hopefully become repeat customers year-round.
The two target audiences mentioned include dog owners looking for items to gift themselves, such as decorations for the house. A second target market is dog items like clothes, toys and treats as well as holiday outfits for seasonal fun.
Products recommended for website showcasing are dog ornaments, dog stockings, Santa suits, festive sweaters, hats, and reindeer antlers along with red and green items. Quick and inexpensive stocking stuffer gifts should be included in the holiday gift displays.
Cookie and treat gift packs are presents that customers seek, including natural cookies in a multitude of holiday shapes. Baskets of toys for dogs and also for humans and dog goodies with toys and treats are hot sellers. A painting of a customer’s dog is a favorite item this time of year, so offering an artist who can transform a photo to painting through a shop is a good idea.
Transform repeat customer by offering a category each week with specials to entice sales. For example, buy one and get one at 50 percent off or purchase a holiday item and get a free gift. Holidays, however, Jacobs warns, are to be profit centers and not a time for loss, so use caution in how much is given away.
