2012 Super Bowl Ad Rescue Dog Causes the SaveADogDay.org Movement to Surge
The Save a Dog organization has secured a spot in a 2012 Super Bowl commercial with a rescue dog named Sasha. The organization focuses on encouraging people to rescue dogs, share their adoption success stories, and also provides links and information for interested parties.
The rescue dog in the commercial first auditioned for the spot where she was cast by director De Veau Dunn and producer Nicholas George. The dog’s commercial is presently in the top five most viewed commercials in the 2012 Doritos Crash The Super Bowl commercial contest. This is quite the feat, as nearly 4,000 entries are in the contest.
Sasha was an abandoned dog who spent her life living in a shelter. When she finally was adopted, her new owner trained and socialized her, and she is now going to be a commercial star. Sasha’s owners are donating a portion of all her earnings towards saving the lives of other dogs and cats living in shelters waiting for their forever homes.
The name of the commercial is the aptly titled “Good Doggie,” and its director is passionate about dog adoption as well. Director Dunn wanted to convey the message of dog adoption in the commercial, and the director’s cut is the only version of the commercial presently available. It is airing on De Veau Dunn’s YouTube channel.
Save a Dog Day organization does not collect any money. They encourage people instead to “click for a cause” by spreading the message through various forms of social media. According to the Humane Society of the United States, an estimated three to four million dogs and cats are euthanized in the United States yearly, so Save a Dog hopes to raise awareness and lower those numbers.
