Pet Parent Spending Habits Revealed as Christmas Approaches
A recent survey conducted by PriceGrabber, a subsidiary of Experian, revealed that 41 percent of consumers will rush to finish Christmas shopping between December 21 and December 24. Undoubtedly, many of those shoppers are pet owners.
London Dog, an online boutique of limited edition apparel inspired by international cultures, has revealed a line of bomber jackets and vets for dogs, wool dog sweaters, and matching winter sets for human parents and siblings, amongst its items of offering. Gift certificates are also available for shoppers who cannot decide on a particular item of interest.
London Dog President and Co-founder Lisa Barron, commented, “Senior dogs are most likely to lose their lives in a shelter. Our goal is to help fund programs that help place senior dogs in loving homes as soon as possible.” The company donates a portion of revenues to animal welfare organizations that rescue senior dogs.
Sales are not just surfacing in pet products but in pet insurance as well. Natasha Ashton, co-CEO of Petplan, stated, “We have long known that pets are considered part of the family. We give them gifts, stuff their stockings, make them special treats and include them in our holiday cards, just as we would the rest of the family."
In a recent story filed by The Sacramento Bee it is reported that pet products and grooming have seen a large increase in holiday sales, despite a sluggish economy.
Online retailer London Dog believes the last minute purchases are largely due to the search for the “perfect gift.” Company founder Jefferey Cornett mused, “While many last-minute buyers may be hunting for bargains, many others, especially dog lovers, are simply looking for unique, clever, beautifully crafted items.”
