Featured Writer of the Week: Travelin' Jack and Jill Lane
Jill of All Trades….Master to Jack, is an appropriate nickname for Jill Lane. Lane is a multi-tasking Writer, Tourism Specialist, and dog lover. Jill resides in New Mexico with her family, including travel-writing partner and companion, Travelin’ Jack, Olde English Bulldogge.
Upon retiring from a cross-country career with Delta Air Lines in 2004, Jill selected New Mexico as her final landing port where she got actively involved in the state’s tourism industry. Her family purchased and made the Elkhorn Lodge their home in the mountain village of Chama, a pet-friendly destination.
With travel in her blood, Jill quickly became a published freelance travel writer, withher work appearing in magazines, travel guides, and online publications. Jill also created Enchantment Lane Publications where she holds the dual role of author-publisher and has garnered several book awards. Additionally, Jill wrote, produced & hosted a weekly radio spot, “Enchantment Travel Notes”, & TV script writing and Voice Over talent for the TV show, “New Mexico’s Hot Chefs”.
In 2010 she was awarded the state’s top recognition as New Mexico Tourism Specialist of the Year.
Jill added a special partner to her travel writing team in 2009 - Travelin’ Jack. A shelter adoptee, Jack was put to work as New Mexico’s pre-eminent Pet Travel Reporter. Jill acts as PR Agent, chauffeur, Ghost Writer, and more for the now-famous Travelin’ Jack.
His writing career began with his dog-blog-travelogue, www.travelinjacksdog-blog.blogspot.com. Since then, he’s appeared on Television, Radio, and Print. He has his own TV segment, Jack’s Tracks promoting pet travel destinations. He’s been the star of a Veterinary News Network video clip, his pet travel articles have appeared in numerous on-line pet publications and magazines, including Fido Friendly & he’s Featured Pet Blogger at Blogpaws 2011. In November 2010, he was elected 1st- ever Dog-Governor of New Mexico - a statewide Canine Campaign for Animal Shelters. His first book, Travelin’ Jack’s Story…from Shelter to Star, was just named winner at the 2011 New Mexico Book Awards.
