Cindy Read is a versatile writer, editor, and artist with a particular passion for pet writing. She is editor-in-chief of The Corgi Cryer, a quarterly magazine for which she has received four Maxwell Awards from the Dog Writers Association of America, one for her article "The Integrative Medicine Approach to Lyme Disease," and the 2008, 2009, and 2010 awards for Best Regional Club Publication. Since she became its editor, The Corgi Cryer has received 41 nominations and 14 DWAA awards.
Cindy is also the editor, project manager, and a contributing writer and artist for four books published by CorgiAid, Inc.: Everything Corgi: A Book for Lovers of Cardis and Pems, The Watching: A Corgi Christmas Tale, The Watching: A Corgi Puppy’s Christmas Surprise, and The Watching: Corgi Christmas Miracles. She contributes regularly to the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of America Newsletter, has edited many dog-related articles, book manuscripts, and websites, and recently lectured on strategies for medical writing at the Cat Writers Association conference.
Whether as a writer or an editor, Cindy specializes in translating complicated concepts for general readers and making them entertaining as well as informative. She has extensive experience as a freelance writer and editor for nonprofit organizations such as New York Medical College, the Dana Foundation, and the Albert and Mary Lasker Foundation, and has written website copy on topics as diverse as neuroscience, American classical music, Eastern bodywork techniques, and minority student business careers.
Cindy has shared her life with dogs, cats, and lizards. She currently lives in the Hudson River Valley north of NYC with her partner and their Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Betony.
