American Feed Industry Association to Hold Pet Food Conference
The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA), the world’s largest organization devoted to exclusively representing the business, regulatory, and legislative interests of the United States animal feed industry and its suppliers, announced it will hold the 2012 Petfood Conference in Atlanta, Georgia on January 24, 2012. The conference will be held at the International Feed Expo/International Poultry Expo and is organized by the American Feed Industry Association and USÂ Poultry & Egg Association.
During the conference, a wide array of topics will be covered including regulatory issues as well as the technical aspects of production, food safety, marketing and use of ingredients. Some of the guest speakers to be featured are  Svetlana Uduslivaia, Euromonitor International, addressing domestic and global pe tfood industry trends; Dr. Dale Hill, ADM Alliance Nutrition Inc., discussing ingredient variability; Douglas Marshall, Eurofins Scientific Inc., and Duarte Diaz, Novus International Inc., addressing pet food safety topics.
The conference is a day-long event being held from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with an add-on registration fee of $40 in addition to the initial IFE/IPE registration fee of $40. Those who register after January 6, 2012, will pay a $60 fee each, respectively.
More than 75 percent of commercial feed in the United States is manufactured by AFIA members. The AFIA is a member of the International Feed Industry Federation (IFIF), which works to address global feed industry concerns.
Formed in 1909, AFIA members are comprised of more than 500 domestic and international companies as well as state, regional, and national associations. Member companies include livestock feed and pet food manufacturers, integrators, pharmaceutical companies, ingredient suppliers, equipment manufacturers and companies which supply other products, services and supplies to feed manufacturers.
