At the PETCO Foundation Gala $70,000 in funds were raised and dispersed to eight welfare organizations benefitting tornado devastated towns in the South.
At the PETCO Gala, Ellen DeGeneres was awarded the first HOPE award. There was an auction at the gala and keynote speakers that addressed animal needs.
The charities that will benefit from the grant include Noah’s Wish, which helps animals in disasters nationwide, Save our Pets Food Bank, SOS Club in Georgia, Arkansans for Animals, Blount County Animal Shelter, Second Chance Animal Sanctuary, Paws, Claws ‘N More Rescue in Kentucky, and McKamey Animal Center in Tennessee.
“We’re thrilled to support these community leaders providing for the animals and people still in need after these disasters,” said Halo CEO and Halo Pet Foundation Board member Steve Marton. “We’re very thankful for the support of our friends at the PETCO Foundation, their many donors, and our own Ellen DeGeneres, who is tireless in lending her voice and support to animals in need.”
One of the partners of the Halo foundation, Freekibble.com, donated Halo spot’s Stew to feed hundreds of animals to southern shelters and food banks. "It is so amazing to be able to help the people and pets in the South that have been struggling after the storms. It makes me very happy to know that the Halo Pet Foundation is now sending money to these awesome groups … they do incredible work and need all the help they can get!”, said Freekibble.com founder, 15 year-old Mimi Ausland.
