The winner of the second annual Bayer Animal Health Legend of the Year Award was announced recently by Bayer HealthCare LLC. The winner of the award is Dr. Tanja Molby of Michigan. The award consists of a donation of $5,000 in Dr. Molby’s name and is being given to the Michigan Equine Foundation of Traverse City, Michigan.
"The Bayer Animal Health Legend of the Year Award was created to honor veterinary professionals that go above and beyond the call of duty, making selfless and heroic contributions to better equine health," said Scott King DVM, equine product manager at Bayer HealthCare's Animal Health Division, who presented the award during the keynote speech at the meeting.
Over 500 nominations were received from August 1, 2011 through October 15, 2011 for the honor. In addition to the veterinarians who won, horse owners who nominated their vets for the award were entered into a sweepstakes. The sweepstakes winner received a ride alongside host Darley Newman of "Equitrekking,” an equine-focused travel show. Winner of the sweepstakes is Lori Odishoo of Berlin, Connecticut.
