Claire Harlin writes for San Diego Pets magazine and has frequently been the author of their cover stories. A lifelong animal lover, Claire grew up around animals, her father being a well-known surgeon and exotic veterinarian in Oklahoma.
By day, Claire is a reporter and editor of four community papers in San Diego and also writes news and local features every day. She has a degree in Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin and joined the San Diego Community Newspaper Group in September as the newsroom’s assistant editor.
Harlin has prior experience serving with community newspapers, having worked for The South Philly Review and Spirit Community Newspapers, both located in Philadelphia. Harlin was also the co-founder and assistant editor of a publication focusing on crime in the Austin, Texas area, The Fugitive Post.
“I can hardly get enough pet writing, and that’s why I’d love to blog,” Harlin shared.
A skilled photographer, some of Harlin’s photographic stylings may be found by visiting http://clayer.wordpress.com/. Wearing many hats, Harlin is the editor of Del Mar Times and Solana Beach Sun, the assistant editor of Rancho Santa Fe Review and Carmel Valley News, the art director for City Heights Life, and a writer for San Diego Pets magazine.
