El Portal Sedona Named One of Best Small Hotels by Conde Nast Readers Choice Awards 2011
El Portal Sedona was named one of the best in the world in the small hotel category by Conde Nast Travelers’ Readers Choice 2011. With over eight million votes cast in the survey, a combined 28,876 opinions were received. Survey participants rated hotels, cities, and islands they visited over the past year.
El Portal Sedona is a pet-friendly hotel with a host of amenities for animal-traveling guests and is ranked as a AAA Four Diamond hotel. Located less than two hours from the Grand Canyon and one hour north of Phoenix, the hotel features 1,000 square feet of patio area that is dog friendly.
The hotel contains 12 guest rooms with modern amenities including a private entrance to room, balcony or patio, whirlpool bath, fireplace, and complimentary wireless. Of note, owners Steve and Connie Segner are owners of a pet food company. Of their pet-friendly rooms, one room is designated for smaller pets while five rooms are allocated for pets of all sizes. Four of the rooms have pet patios for owners traveling with animals.
Of their pet friendly services, a personalized concierge is available. Their website touts several pet-friendly amenities such as nearby restaurants where pets are welcome, pet food and supplies in Sedona, attractions and parks to visit with dogs, and assistance with planning activities.
Of its attention to details, museum quality arts and crafts furnishings are a part of every suite. River rock stone, French doors, stencil designs, hand-painted detailing, stained glass ceiling panels, tile and flagstone flooring, are some of the details guests are privy to, which contributed to the award bestowed by Conde Nast. Of note, the Segners have had their home featured on Bob Vila’s magazine, American Home and the book, Southwest Style.
