Nestle Purina's Parent Company Ranks among Top 'Green' Firms
Nestle Purina PetCare’s parent company, Nestle, ranked among the top 11 companies in the world for corporate sustainability practices. The agency responsible for declaring this accolade is Two Tomorrows, a United Kingdom-based company, with its Tomorrow’s Value Rating.
Delivering insight, strategic advice and support to large companies, the goal of Two Tomorrows is to create long-term value by doing business sustainably. Executive Chairman of Two Tomorrows, Mark Line, reported in the “Tomorrow’s Value Rating 2011” that the population chosen for their research was pre-selected to be true sustainability leaders. The mean score for most of the companies clustered around 68 percent.
The 11 companies named as top-rated in the Tomorrow’s Value Rating include Campbell’s, Danone, General Electric, GlaxoSmithkline, HP, Intel, Nestle, Nike, Panasonic, Siemens, and Unilever. Though the report does not specifically reveal why each company scored so high, it does mention some case specifics.
Nestle received a AAA investment grade rating. Two Tomorrows cited they do not recommend nor endorse any specific investment nor provide investment advice. Serving a global client base in Europe, Asia, and North America, Tomorrow’s Value Rating is an expert assessment of the systems and practices that underlie corporate sustainability performance.
The seven fundamental principles used in the company’s methodology include company transparency, ratings should be transparent, long-term investment value, long-term financial performance, the benchmark for sustainability should be best practice, insight into sustainability, and revenue earned not extorted.
