The Wag Pack Named Best Pet Care Company in the Country
The National Association of Professional Pet Sitters recently awarded The Wag Pack, LLC, an Alexandria-based pet care company, as its business of the year.
NAPPS was founded in 1999 by several pet sitters. They are the only national nonprofit United States trade association for individuals with pet sitting business. Operated for and by its members, NAPPS is a member association for both full- and part-time pet sitters.
The award is given to one NAPPS member per year that has exhibited outstanding business practice and vision in both maintaining and growing his or her business. According to NAPPS, Isabel Alvarez, the owner of The Wag Pack LLC, was nominated due to her strong business growth, marketing expertise and commitment to the pet sitting profession.
“The passion that I have for pets and my business is the same passion my staff has and this is truly a recipe for success,” said Alvarez. “I am inspired when I see positive things happening in my community and I wanted to contribute to that good. I grew my business not by volume, but in delivering a very personalized service that is based on relationships. My clients and staff can feel this connection and that is a significant contributor to my success.”
A member of NAPPS since 2008, Alvarez began her career in the hospitality industry. Her business has grown from one to eleven pet sitters and dog walkers.
NAPPS also announced first runner up for Business of the Year is Wisconsin Pet Care, with owner Lori Mendelsohn Thomas. Thomas founded Wisconsin Pet Care in 2008 after spending her office days worrying about her pets.
Alvarez and Thomas will be recognized at the 2012 NAPPS Annual Conference and Small Business Forum, January 27-29, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“I would like to congratulate Isabel on receiving this prestigious Award,” said John D’Ariano, President of NAPPS. “The success of her business demonstrates her passion and dedication to the profession making her the best choice for the NAPPS 2012 Business of the Year Award.”
