Scannable QR Code Dog ID Tag Wins Dog Fancy's 2011 "Editors' Choice" Award
SEATTLE, Wash. – October 26, 2011: PetHub, a software company focused on creating comprehensive pet safety solutions, announced today that it’s been selected as a recipient of the Dog Fancy Magazine 2011 “Editors’ Choice” award in the “Best New Product” category.
“We are blown away,” said Tom Arnold, Founder and CEO of PetHub, Inc. “When we first offered a Seattle-area sample of our scannable QR code ID tags in November 2010, we simply wanted to understand if pet owners were interested in using new technology to protect their pets. The success of the Seattle test led to our nationwide product launch in March 2011 that resulted in over 10,000 animals tagged and protected within a few months. We are inspired to work even harder to provide more solutions that bring lost pets home faster.”
The Dog Fancy Editors’ Choice award recognizes PetHub Link tags: a QR code and web address on a laser-engraved metal tag that, when scanned with a smartphone or entered into a web browser, allows anyone who finds a lost pet to access vital, current information not found on a typical ID tag.
“Like many people obsessed with technology, I am glued to my iPhone,” said Reina Kutner, Associate Editor for Dog Fancy. “[That] makes this product even more ingenious. Scan the QR code on the tag with any smartphone, and you will have all the important contact and medical information for the dog right there. It protects your privacy and protects your dog in case of an emergency, whether he’s lost or in need of serious care. It’s so smart, I kind of wish they made one for humans!”(1)
After recently closing a $500,000 seed round from Seattle-area investors, PetHub continues to build momentum and provide greater value to customers through new features and functionality, including GPS location services. Arnold concludes, “We are doing what we love and leading the pack in creating cutting-edge solutions to protect our four-legged family members. It doesn’t get much better than that.”
In addition to the Dog Fancy award, PetHub was also awarded the silver medal in the PET AGE Retailer Select Awards at H.H. Backer’s 45th Annual Pet Industry Trade Show and Educational Conference. PetHub and their scannable QR code ID tags have also been featured on CNN, NBC, FOX and numerous affiliates across the country. Learn more at http://www.PetHub.com/get-tagged.
