Platinum Pets' Smartphone Pet ID Tags Report Record-Breaking Sales
In the two months that Platinum Pets has released released the world’s first metal pet tag with an engraved QR code on both sides of the tag, the company has reported record-breaking sales by quickly gaining major distributors in Canada, Japan, England, and the U.S.
One of the newest industries that incorporated QR codes is the pet industry. According to the American Pet Products Association (APPA), the U.S. pet industry in 2011 has outgrown the previous year by more than 2 billion.
Utilizing QR Codes, anyone using the Platinum Pets' Smartphone Pet ID Tag has the ability to scan a pet tag with a Smartphones and retrieve all the information they need to know about the pet and its owner.
A QR code (abbreviated for Quick Response Code) is a type of “matrix looking” barcode that was first created by Toyota in 1994 to track automobiles during the manufacturing process.
“It is truly a unique product that serves a purpose and need in our society today” said Sarah Koester the Marketing Director at Platinum Pets, Inc. “our scannable pet ID tag is not meant to replace Microchipping, but rather be used as an alternative method that anyone with a smarthphone can use, scan and locate the lost pets owner - it's a fraction of the cost of microchipping, extremely easy to use, and everyone can use it” she continued.
