The scheduled grand opening of Dulles’ newest pet resort is Oct. 1. Construction began today on the 32,000 square foot facility.
The resort is the second location for the Olde Towne Pet Resort (OTPR) in Springfield, Va. The Dulles pet resort will feature “three expansive day camp rooms, 70+ newly constructed 'cat condos' and over 100 spacious dog boarding suites,” says Steve B. Jones, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of OTPR's parent company, Fried Companies, Inc.
The resort will be a five-star destination. "We sought to create stress free and comfortable animal housing for Loudoun's companion animals complete with executive suites, swimming pools and grooming salon," says Mark R. Hafen (AIA), founding member of Colorado-based architectural firm Animal Arts which specializes exclusively in animal care facilities. "It was exciting to work with the Old Towne Pet Resort team to develop a facility that meets the animals' needs and streamlines OTPR operations. The end result will be a premium resort experience for Loudoun's pets and their pet-loving families."
However, building the resort has not been exactly stress free for the company. Choosing the Loudon community to expand OTPR was an easy one, but the company ran into planning and purchasing difficulties. The pre-groundbreaking development has been a two year process.
The luxury pet hotel is already accepting reservations for the Thanksgiving holiday. The will be an exclusive pre-opening for interested, local bloggers and writers. All grand opening details and media-only pre-opening tour information will be posted on OTPR's blog, http://www.oldetownepetresort.com/Dulles.
