Nestle Purina's Arizona Plant Unveils New 427-Kilowatt Solar Energy System
Friday, Oct 7, 2011 1:42 pm
Nestlé Purina Petcare will unveil a 427-kilowatt solar energy system today at its pet food facility in Flagstaff, Ariz. The system is made up of nearly 1,900 solar panels and covers more than 70,000 square feet of roof space.
Nestlé Purina Petcare collaborated with Arizona Public Services, the Northern Arizona Renewable Energy Group and REC Solar on the project, which is being touted as the largest of its kind to be installed for a private company in Northern Arizona.
“We believe that to be successful in the long term we have to create value for the company and in every part our business," said Bill Salzman, Nestlé's director of corporate communications. "Environmental sustainability is one part of creating shared value and doing business in a way that is good for the company and good for society and the planet."
Flagstaff is Nestlé Purina’s second manufacturing facility to add a solar energy system. The St. Louis-based company installed a 100-kilowatt solar energy system at its Denver plant in 2009. For more information about Nestlé Purina Petcare go to www.nestlepurina.com.
