Super Bowl Champion Quarterback Give Grant To K9s4Cops
Friday, Oct 7, 2011 10:02 am
Pittsburgh Steelers' Super Bowl Champion Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's charity arm, the Ben Roethlisberger Foundation at The Giving Back Fund, has given a grant to K9s4Cops, Inc., a Houston, Texas-based foundation, to benefit the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
K9s4Cops will use the grant to increase the size of their donation to the Harris County Sheriff's Office K-9 corps by purchasing a trainable, dual-purpose canine that will then be passed along to their own certified staff for narcotics detection and patrol-related training. Officials did not release the grant's dollar amount.
So far this year K9s4Cops has donated four K-9s to the sheriff's office. As a 501(c)(3) charitable, non-profit organization, K9s4Cops' aim is to raise funds for Houston and cities nationwide urgently requiring additional K-9s. For more information about K9s4Cops go to www.k9s4cops.org.
"So many people want to show their support of police on a larger scale but don't know how," said K9s4Cops board founder and chair Kristi Schiller. "K9s4Cops will provide a trusted way for individuals and corporations to foster a relationship with those who make our community a safer place."
