With nearly 1,200 PetSmart stores across the country and in Canada participating, PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend was a huge success. Approximately 17,800 pets in North America were adopted from Sept. 9-11.
This event was very proudly sponsored by Purina Pro Plan, Tidy Cats, PetSmart stores in the U.S. and Canada and MAXX Scoop. In November 2010, PetSmart Charities found 17,100 pets new families. PetSmart Charities is the largest supporter of animal welfare efforts in the United States.
On their website, it explains that PetSmart Charities was “established in 1994 and is an independent, nonprofit organization that creates and supports programs that save the lives of homeless pets, raise awareness of companion animal welfare issues and promote healthy relationships between people and pets.” Their mission includes funding programs for saving homeless pets, providing adoption centers and support, providing emergency relief from disasters and raising awareness and providing education about animal welfare.
