Grant Allows for the Creation of Partnership for Pets Coalition
In North Carolina, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care and Control and the Humane Society of Charlotte have announced that thanks to a $100,000 grant, they have joined forces to create Partnership for Pets. The goal of this organization is to build a collaborative network of other animal welfare organizations, rescue groups and pet loving businesses in order to better promote and attend to animal welfare.
The George D. Patterson Family Foundation along with the Foundation of the Carolinas, granted this money for the specific purpose of increasing awareness in Charlotte regarding issues that pertain to animal welfare and also to get the community involved in helping reduce pet overpopulation. This in turn will benefit animal rescue groups in MecklenburgCounty by reducing the number of animals coming into the shelter system.
The Foundation for the Carolinas is one of the largest community foundations in the Southeast, as well as being among the top 10 in the United States. The George D. Patterson Family Foundation provides significant support to agencies focused on animal welfare.
The Animal Care and Control Division of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is an agency that is devoted to the protection and safety of citizens and animals within the community. They intend to create awareness throughout the community through spay and neuter programs, adoption programs and education on responsible pet ownership.
