A Big Thanks Offered to Bergen County Police Officers and K9's
On the behalf of The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company, or A&P, Nestle Purina PetCare donated $5000 to the K9 unit that offered their aid during 9/11 recovery missions. A&P's Woodcliff Lake store hosted an event for this occasion where Nestle Purina PetCare presented the check to the Bergen County Sheriff's Office K9 unit. Nestle Purina PetCare also handed out coupons to customers, while the Bergen County Sheriff's Office K9 Unit held a rescue-dog demonstration.
The Bergen County Police Department K9 Unit was established in 1975 with two police officers and two German shepherd dogs. In the 30 years that followed, it has become a full service K9 unit, helping law enforcement agencies and residents of the northern New Jersey region. Some responsibilities of this unit include tracking, building searches, explosive detection, dignitary protection and narcotic detection.
Operating 336 stores, A&P is one of the nation’s first supermarkets. Founded in 1859, A&P chains can be found in seven states under such names as Waldbaum's, Pathmark, Best Cellars, The Food Emporium, Super Foodmart, Superfresh and Food Basics. A&P stays on top of their donations by offering a request form for a donation on their Web site. For more information, visit apfreshonline.com.
