Viritual Celebration, a firm that creates online environments to help companies promote their brands and organizations, partnered with the American Society for the Prevention Cruelty to Animals to bring the ASPCA Adoption Day at the Hampton Classic online when Hurricane Irene forced the cancellation of the Bridgehampton, N.Y. event on Aug. 29.
“We couldn't let the hurricane keep these four-legged friends from finding loving homes,” said Pat Campbell, CEO of Virtual Celebration. “The creative team at Virtual Celebration brought the event alive online at http://www.virtualcelebration.com/adopt. All we need now are people to visit the Virtual Adoption Month website, view the photos, and love and adopt these pets."
13 Long Island, Westchester and Connecticut animal shelters reported pet adoptions thanks to the online community event. In the ten-day period ending Sunday, September 11, more than 1,200 people have visited the website. These visits have generated about 15,000 views of the adoptable animals. Virtual Adoption Month is scheduled to run until early October.
"We are so grateful to Pat Campbell and Virtual Celebration, who came to the rescue of the pet adoption event,” said Shanette Barth Cohen, Executive Director of the Hampton Classic. “When the ASPCA Adoption Day was cancelled, and we decided to have an online event, Pat contacted us as a volunteer and developed and executed the concept in 72 hours! Now, animal lovers can attend a truly amazing virtual event, not just for a day, but an entire month.”
