Found Animals Foundation Launches Unconventional 2012 Cat Calendar
Found Animals Foundation, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization that works to decrease the numbers of animals euthanized in shelters, recently launched a 12-month calendar featuring a bevy of men who love cats posing for their cause.
The unique concept features men posing with camera-ready felines for the foundation’s 2012 calendar titled “6 Packs/9 Lives.”
The calendar’s aim is to break the cat owner stereotype and to enlighten the public about the plight of cats in animals shelters in California and nationwide. The calendar is one of the foundation’s cat-oriented campaigns designed to save the lives of cats in shelters.
Every year, six to eight million cats and dogs enter shelters in the United States, with three to four million euthanized; 75 percent of those euthanized are cats.
"The calendar is an attention-grabbing tool to help homeless cats and our way of showing the public that cat owners consist of all types of people," said Aimee Gilbreath, executive director of Found Animals. Last year, Found Animals held a city-wide casting call seeking real life cat-loving males to be featured in the calendar. Celebrity photographer and creator of the “NoH8 Campaign,” Adam Bouska, photographed the men in various poses.
Found Animals will donate thousands of copies of the calendar to local shelters, rescue groups, and other cat-related organizations. In turn, the calendars will be sold for shelter fundraising. Now available on Amazon.com, a large portion of all sales will go to Found Animals’ ongoing cat-oriented organizations such as spay and neuter, microchipping, licensing, and adoption events and promotions.
