Quaker Pet Group Acquires Watson's Senior Pet Supplies
Marking its third acquisition in a year, Quaker Pet Group (QPG) of New York has acquired Watson's Senior Pet Supplies for an undisclosed sum. Quaker Pet Group acquired New York Dog in July 2010 and the Sherpa Pet Group in February 2011. Watson’s Senior Pet Supplies makes products for aging pets, including the Bottom’s Up leash, which is designed to improve the mobility of senior pets with physical challenges.
Quaker's recent acquisition coincides with the launch of their new Silver Tails senior pet line. The line includes items designed to improve circulation in older animals as well as provide dietary assistance, bonding and pampering. It is expected to be available by the end of August. Arnie Costell, president and founder of Watson’s Senior Pet Supplies, will stay on as director of veterinary sales for Quaker.
“Watson’s’ pet product expertise, innovation and passion for improving the lives of senior pets and Mr. Costell’s impeccable reputation among veterinarians extends QPG’s commitment to the ever-growing market of aging pets,” said QPG’s president and chief operating officer Neil Werde.
