LAS VEGAS — Paul Mitchell the School’s Future Professionals know how looking good leads to feeling great. They also are committed to providing humanitarian service as part of their culture and this commitment extends to our four-legged friends as well.
For the third consecutive year, Paul Mitchell Schools and John Paul Pet will be donating their time and energy Aug. 29 through Sept. 2 at Best Friends Animal Society’s sanctuary in southern Utah. In addition to their volunteering, they plan to donate more than $11,000.00 in John Paul Pet products, the only pet grooming and hygiene products with a salon pedigree.
Shawn Claybaugh, Director at John Paul Pet, asked every student in the network of 100-plus Paul Mitchell schools across the county to help and he says “The response was incredible! This all began in 2009 with 14 volunteers from one Paul Mitchell school on a one-day outing to the sanctuary. It grew to a five-day trip in 2010 with over 80 Future Professionals and this year we are expecting an even larger presence.”
While at the sanctuary Future Professionals and John Paul Pet staff walk dogs, play with cats, help socialize shy animals, bathe not only dogs and cats, but potbellied pigs too, who, like Squeaky, make great pets in the right home. When animals are neatly groomed studies show that the likelihood of their being adopted increases and John Paul Pet wants to help Best Friends achieve their mission of “No More Homeless Pets.”
“This group of Future Professionals really stands out when they visit us every year,” says Faith Maloney, co-founder of Best Friends Animal Society. “Not only are they dedicated to working with all of the animals whether it’s dogs, cats or guinea pigs but they all look fabulous too. Their black outfits and dynamic hairstyles make a bold statement about who they are and what they do. They embody and define the ethics of Paul Mitchell the School in both action and appearance.”
John Paul Pet products were created by John Paul DeJoria, Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board of Paul Mitchell and are specially formulated to meet the needs of our four-legged friends. DeJoria adds “We are very excited about our relationship and partnership with Best Friends Animal Society. At John Paul Pet, we appreciate the kind work they do for the animals and support their philosophy and culture. We share the goal of making animals better off in the world. Peace, love and happiness.”
About John Paul Pet:
John Paul Pet is dedicated to the proper care of all pets and we actively support outreach programs that enrich the lives of all animals worldwide. With more than 30 years in the professional salon business, we know what it takes to keep hair and skin healthy. And, the same experience applies to our animal companions. John Paul Pet has developed the first comprehensive system of pet care products that not only improves your pet's appearance, but their overall health as well.
John Paul Pet also follows in the footsteps of our founders' "Behind the Bottle" philosophy by creating a "Behind the Paw" culture that brings pets, people, passion and programs together in an effort to create a better world for animals. It is this culture that sets us apart, making John Paul Pet one of the most trusted brands in the industry.
We partner with Paul Mitchell Schools across the United States to give back in order to help animals in need on a local, regional and even national level. This is done through our John Paul Pet Clubs, an extensive network of amazing Future Professionals within the Paul Mitchell Schools network, with the simple goal “to promote the benefits of proper care and hygiene for pets while increasing awareness of animal-related issues and to volunteer within the community to support animal-friendly causes through education, outreach and love.”
