Social networking seems to be everywhere right now, but there has yet to be networking platform for pets themselves. On the new site http://www.virtualpetwork.com, users sign up for an account/ cutomized profile as their pet (dog, cat, ferret, guinea pig, etc). People talk on behalf of their animal, bringing their pets' personalities to life online. Their pets are able to share status messages, photos, blog, join/create groups, share stories and information, promote their favorite animal organization or charity and more.
A section called Adoption Corner was recently added and set up to use the company's far reach around the globe to help more animals find their forever homes.
According to Tootsie McDougall (Doggie Vice President) "Our goal is to create a large community of pets that live in harmony." Chief Dog Officer Marteeny McDougall agrees, "We found that other social network sites didn't cater to our furry specific needs. We want to build this site together with our pet pals to make it a perfect place for us all!"
