Global Pet Foods Chain Enters U.S. Market
Global Pet Foods, a Canadian pet store chain with more than 140 locations, has entered the U.S. market with the opening of two stores in Connecticut.
The company plans to open eight more stores in Connecticut within the year before expanding to others parts of the Northeast. Currently one of the stores in Connecticut also serves as the U.S. headquarters.
Global Pet Foods President Jim Walker said that the company has always had plans to enter the U.S. market, but wanted to wait for the most opportune time in which conditions were favorable. With the economic recovery underway, the company feels that now is that time.
Both stores focus on natural, wholesome foods, just as Global’s Canadian stores. They offer cat, dog, small animal, bird and some fish products. The increase of pet owners purchasing natural and wholesome pet food in the United States also contributed to Global Pet Foods’ decision to expand to the U.S.
Walker said the company has already identified other areas in the Northeast that it will be targeting for expansion. But for now, the main priority is Connecticut. For more information and updates about Global Pet Foods visit the company website, Facebook and Twitter pages.
