Petmate, a Texas-based manufacturer of pet kennels, bedding and other accessories, has acquired the products and intellectual property rights of Kennel-Aire LLC of Ottawa, Kan. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Kennel-Aire manufactures and distributes wire crates, carriers and other accessories for the pet containment, training and travel markets. The acquisition includes products, equipment, intellectual property and working capital. Over the next 60 days, Petmate plans to move Kennel-Aire’s product inventory, manufacturing operations and associated distribution processes to its facilities in Arlington, Texas.
“Kennel-Aire products are a valuable addition to Petmate’s already established and reputable line of carriers and kennels,” said Petmate CEO Joe Messner. “We are excited about the Kennel-Aire acquisition and look forward to additional growth opportunities it will bring for Petmate and our retail partners.”
Messner said Bob Tyley, Kennel-Aire’s vice president of sales and marketing, has signed on to work with Petmate for at least three months. Petmate expects to continue to design, develop and market the products under the Kennel-Aire and Remington brand names.
