In an effort to stop euthanasia, HOPE for Animals will host a pet adopt-a-thon Aug.13 in Fort Wayne, Ind. that will feature more than 20 animal-welfare organizations and vendors. The pet adopt-a-thon is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Megan Reynolds, HOPE for Animal's community outreach coordinator, said by hosting the event her group hopes to help rescue operations get more public exposure and find homes for their animals. Rescue groups expected to attend the event at the HOPE Clinic include the Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control, Almost Home Dachshund Rescue Society, Above and Beyond English Setters and the Perfect Paws Pet Rescue.
So far, 14 vendors are coming, including, Dog Psychology and Training Center, Down to Earth, Green Dog Goods, Flying Colors Canine Academy and Fort Wayne Pet Food Pantry. Coupons for low-cost micro-chipping, heartworm tests, and feline leukemia virus and feline immunodeficiency virus (FELV/FIV) tests will be available for use on the day of the event, or up to one month after.
