In the spirit of weight-loss and eating healthier, Camp Bow Wow out of Boulder, Colo. has challenged pet owners and their pets to improve their eating habits with their weight-loss contest, known as the Furry Fitness Challenge.
Camp Bow Wow is a pet care services provider that has invited pet owners to their site to create a personal webpage tracking their weight, and their pet’s weight between June 11 thru August 6. The team that loses the highest combined percentage of weight, pet and owner combined, receives a complimentary full year of service at a Camp Bow Wow or Home Buddies location of their choice. Along with that, online retailer FetchDog has also joined up with Camp Bow Wow to offer the winning team $150 in pet products from the online retailer.
The staff at Camp Bow Wow is excited about the challenge.
“Simply introducing play and exercise back into a pet’s daily routine, as we do with our ‘all day play’ environment at Camp Bow Wow and our dog walking services at Home Buddies, as well as adjusting diet, have shown to improve socialization and overall physical and mental health for our pets,” said Camp Bow Wow CEO and founder Heidi Ganahl. “We hope that this initiative will encourage owners to not only begin to lead healthier lifestyles for themselves, but also for their furry friends.”
The staff does not lead blindly. The company has brought in a veterinarian and weight-loss specialist to assist participants in their weight loss, offer workout tips and make diet suggestions.
To create the webpage, simply go to their website and click on “Join Our Furry Fitness Challenge” box in the bottom left taking you to this page. For more information, visit Camp Bow Wow on Facebook.
