DogTime Media is hosting their annual Pet Blog Awards held Aug. 25-27 in Tysons Corner, Va. Winners are nominated from within the blogging community and are awarded $1000 to be donated to any shelter of their choosing. Last year the award was a sum of $500 to a total of four winners. The stakes were raised for this year’s ceremony.
Categories have been expanded for this year’s “Petties”. Previous year’s categories included best cat blog, best dog blog, best cause-related blog, and best overall pet blog. The additional categories for this year are best designed blog, best individual blog post, best social integration blog, and funniest blog or blogger.
“The Petties has connected with pet bloggers because it is truly an awards program for bloggers, by bloggers,” said DogTime Media CEO, Trevor Wright. “This year we are recognizing twice as many bloggers and are doubling the donation that DogTime will make in the name of each winning blogger to the animal shelter of their choice.”
This year’s awards will also have a bit more pomp and circumstance. “This year the awards ceremony is going to capture the classic style of old Hollywood, with lots of glamour, beautiful gowns, red carpet, the works!” said Leslie Smith, Editor-in-Chief of DogTime and emcee of the Petties awards ceremony. “This year we will be awarding more prizes, donating more money than ever to shelters on behalf of the winners, and recognizing more of the great work these bloggers do every day.”
In addition to the announcement of winners, the weekend will also include keynote and educational meetings specifically tailored to pet blogging.
Nominations for the finalists will close June 29 and voting for the winners will begin July 5. For more information please visit http://dogtime.com/petties.
