After the several natural disasters across America, the word has spread regarding the struggles of animal shelters caring for pets. With several American’s losing their homes, they were forced to cast away their pets for their own survival. Animal shelters found those stranded pets and have given them shelter, but they only have so much in terms of pet supplies. Now, as the supplies begin to grow scarce and animal shelters begin to stay at capacity following floods and tornados, the Big Apple Pet Supply has decided to help out.
CEO of Big Apple Pet Supply, Steven Spitz first started helping animals through his mass number of followers through his company’s Facebook using promotions that resulted in his first thousands of dollars he has spent towards product funding for numerous animal shelters. Now, following even more desperate needs from animal shelters, he proposes an even greater funding project through his Facebook promotions. His 6,000 dollar Animal Shelter Product Fund Contest.
The contest initially launched July 7 and runs up until July 21. In order to have a chance at the 6,000 dollars in funding, animal shelters must register for the contest by July 21, then from July 21 through August 19 people can vote on their favorite animal shelter they would like to win the funding. The top three animal shelters win funding, first place receiving $3,000, second place receiving $2,000 and then third place receiving $1,000.
When Big Apple Supply initially asked animal shelters what products they were in need of, the responses were overwhelming. Items included: food and water bowls, treats and flea and tick remedies.
“It is heartbreaking to hear about so many shelters and recues in desperate need of basic necessities like food and water bowls,” said Steven Spitz, CEO of Big Apple Pet Supply. “I feel like I have to do something, so I am doing what I can to make a difference. We will have another $5,000 Animal Shelter Product Fund Contest in the fall to help even more shelters and rescues."
