Writer of the Week: Mary M. Mitchell
A respected etiquette expert and author of nine books, Mary M. Mitchell has penned a new book, “Woofs to the Wise.” The book shares what happens to a “trio of divas” when they are confronted with career challenges and more, finding the answers in a French Bulldog’s words of wisdom.
Mitchell writes a column for Reuters and has appeared on a variety of network talk shows, including a weekly commentary on the Comcast network. She has written “The Complete Idiot's Guide to Etiquette."
According to Mitchell, the odyssey in the book begins when Nessa, a woman from Philadelphia, visits her best friend, Mary, in Seattle. The two women hit it off, but are very different in their personalities. Mary’s patience and humor are tested, and she confides in her dog, ZsaZsa Pooch, to speak for her.
Mitchell’s column, "Ms. Demeanor," originated in The Philadelphia Inquirer (where it ran twice weekly for ten years). It was nationally syndicated by King Features. The Seattle Times ran her column, Nice Matters, for many years. Mitchell also works as a corporate trainer for matters relating to civility and professionalism.
In her book, Nessa Forman was the VP of Corporate Communications for WHYY, the Philadelphia affiliate for PBS and NPR. ZsaZsa LaPooch is a six-year-old French bulldog
Profits from the book go to The Philadelphia Foundation for arts education of middle school children.
