Journey For Paws Raises Thousands for Long Island Organizations
The owner of Barks-n-Bubbles Boutique in New York, Irene Rabinowitz, recently walked 70 miles in four days with her dog, Sydney, in order to raise funds for two charitable organizations.
Dubbed 'A Journey Four Paws,’ Rabinowitz decided to do the walk to raise awareness about arthritis and to do something to make a positive impact on having a dog park built in her hometown of Selden, New York. Pet lovers and companies throughout the United States and Canada showed their support of the journey. The event took place on Monday, October 8, 2012.
Rabinowitz reports at least $2,000 has been raised to date and will be split and donated to the Long Island Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation and to Central Suffolk Paws a division of LI-Dog. Donations are still arriving. As part of her gift to herself for turning 50 in 2013, Rabinowitz wanted to mark her special milestone with the walk.
“A Journey Four Paws had a lot of meaning for me on a personal level - taking the negatives that come our way in life and turning them into positives in each day no matter how bad it may be, “ Rabinowitz said. “And to have raised some money for 2 very important organizations to me is a bonus.”
Barks-n-Bubbles is located in Suffolk County, New York and is a self-service dog wash boutique. They are a cage-free facility and have been in business for six years.
