The 9Lives brand of cat food announced a new campaign in time for the 2012 Presidential Election featuring Morris the Cat.
Considered a “cat celebrity,” Morris the Cat plans to feature issues such as forever homes for cats and more as 9Lives launches the “Presidential Campaign.” Morris extended an offer to the well-known Mayor of Talkeenta, Alaska, Stubbs the Cat, to be his running mate.
Sue Resnicoff, Director of Cat Food Marketing at Del Monte Foods, shared, “A future where every cat lives well is Morris' greatest passion, and it has certainly helped him gain supporters and a strong feline following. We believe every cat should live life to the fullest and we support Morris in his campaign platforms and bid for office in the 2012 Election."
For the campaign, Morris the Cat is seeking support, since his last run for office was 1988, and then another run in 1992. 9Lives brand cat food will be giving back to cats throughout the campaign’s duration. Facebook fans can download a free election poster, insert their cat’s face, and share it via social media. For each share of the campaign poster on Facebook, the Morris campaign will donate one bowl of 9Lives cat food to Pets Are Wonderful Support, San Francisco (PAWS San Francisco), up to 3,000 lbs. of cat food.

The campaign will run through Election Day, November 6, 2012. Del Monte Pet Products is one of the largest producers, distributors and marketers of branded pet products and food products for the United States retails market. They generated approximately $3.7 billion in net sales in fiscal 2012.
