A new industry trade group has been formed and membership is available by invitation only to independent brick-and-mortar retailers. The AquaLife Dealers Lounge hopes to have at least 600 stores in the group by the end of 2012.
Executive director of the group is John Tullock, who has 25 years’ worth of experience in the aquarium industry. The website began in August and amongst their offerings will be sales tools and digital product available to Dealers Lounge members.
According to an article in Pet Product News International, membership is free and open to independent retailers regardless of their store size or number of employees.
Membership is free and open to independent retailers regardless of their store size or number of employees. The group plans boost members’ collective buying power and post product reviews.
“This might be a full-line pet store with an aquarium department, a nursery with a pond division or an aquarium-only shop,” Tullock told Pet Product News International. “The idea is to provide a way for independent business owners to come together to learn, to share experience and to tackle issues that affect us all.”
Amongst the goals of the Dealers Lounge are increasing the number of lifelong hobbyists who keep aquariums or water gardens, to boost the number of aquarium or pond businesses that can offer their owners a good living, and to provide business tools to create a level of service that generates successful hobbyists.
