Tractor Supply Company Announces Promotions and Appointments
Tractor Supply Company announced a planned management succession with current President and Chief Operating Officer, Gregory A. Sandfort, assuming the role of President and Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2013. Sandfort will be appointed at that time to the Board of Directors. James F. Wright, current Chairman and CEO of Tractor Supply Company, will be appointed as Executive Chairman of the Board with a term of one year.
There are 1,135 Tractor Supply Company stores in 45 states as of June 30, 2012. Their line includes equine, pet and small animal products, including items necessary for their health, care, growth and containment; hardware, truck, towing and tool products; seasonal products, including lawn and garden items, power equipment, gifts and toys; maintenance products for agricultural and rural use; and work/recreational clothing and footwear.
Sandfort began with Tractor Supply Company in November, 2007, as Chief Merchandising Officer. According to a company statement, he has assisted in growing sales and operating margins while improving inventory productivity and operating efficiencies. Wright began with Tractor Supply Company in October of 2000 as President and Chief Operating Officer.
In related news, Tractor Supply Company promoted Steve Barbarick to the position of Executive Vice President, Merchandising. He joined the company in 1998 as Buyer. In this new position, Barbarick will report to Sandfort and oversee the Company's merchandising and marketing functions.
