Wahl and Petfinder.com Foundation Team Up For National Dog Adoption Month
The PetFinder.com Foundation and Wahl have teamed up to search for America’s “Dirtiest Dogs,” in honor of National Dog Adoption Month.
Throughout October, people can submit a photo of their dirty dog along with a short story and shelter nomination to the Dirty Dog Contest app that will be on theWAHL Facebook page. From all entries received, three people will win a year’s supply of pet grooming products from Wahl and a monetary donation to the animal shelter of the winner’s choice.
Noah Horton, assistant director for Petfinder.com Foundation, shared, “We are asking people to help support pet adoption by entering their local shelter into the running to win $5,000 in funding. This additional funding is vital to these shelters and can help them provide the vaccinations, neuter procedures and shelter care these pets need while waiting to be adopted."
The Petfinder.com Foundation reports than of the over eight million animals placed in shelters annually, only half are adopted. The lowest months for dog adoptions are October, November, and December.
Representatives from Wahl and Petfinder.com Foundation will select the top 25 stories/photos and then allow fans to vote on their favorites from November 2 through November 6, 2012.
Wahl recently donated pet grooming supplies to over 130 Petfinder shelters nationwide. Wahl is also providing free samples to participants of the Dirty Dog content along with giveaways of free grooming supplies through the contest’s duration.
The Petfinder Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)3 public charity, helps homeless pets by saving lives through adoptions, helping shelters prepare for and recover from disaster and working to make sure animal welfare organizations across the country are more sustainable.
