A custom-designed product for usage with blind or visually impaired dogs to protect them from bumping into walls and objects has been released. Muffin’s Halo is a patent-pending device that was one of the many products featured at the recent SuperZoo held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Muffin’s Halo was designed by Silvie Bordeaux in honor of her dog, Muffin Bordeaux, a 12-yar-old toy poodle, who lost his sight due to cataracts. As he began to bump into walls and encounter obstacles, the dog became depressed and immobile. His owner was determined to find a solution for dog.
Laura Ballegeer, owner of blind dogs, reported, “This product is a revolutionary invention that will change and save the lives of many dogs that have lost their vision! It’s a brilliant solution that provides safety and comfort for blind/visually impaired dogs to enjoy their lives and live as normal as possible, without their sight.”
Muffin’s Halo is lightweight and comfortable. It is designed to sit on the dog’s neck in order to protect their head and shoulder areas, with a decorative halo that will not hinder movement or daily activity. The inventor reports the product’s wings and halo makes dogs look like angels.
The product is available in five sizes for smaller dogs, with larger breed sizes launching soon. They are made in the United States and are adjustable with Velcro straps. Machine washable on delicate, Muffin’s Halo can also be hand washed. Priced starting at $89.95.
