The Humane Society of Boulder Valley (HSBV) in Colo. will be hosting a grand opening on July 23 of their new adoption center thanks to PetSmart Charities, Inc. PetSmart Charities covered all of the building costs of the adoption center and will not charge HSBV rent to use the facility.
The new building is about 2,000 square feet and can hold up to 40 animals. The facility will be located inside the Westminster PetSmart store. About 25 pets per week are expected to be adopted. HSBV will staff the center where pets will stay until they are adopted, which limits transportation costs and added anxiety. The new center will free up space at the original shelter.
"These enhanced adoption centers are proving to be a very successful way to find even more pets the homes they deserve," said Susana Della Maddalena, vice president and executive director of nonprofit PetSmart Charities, Inc. "By collaborating with strong organizations like the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, we are able to promote pet adoptions and reduce euthanasia in local communities."
"We are very excited to partner with PetSmart to open our new adoption center in its Westminster store," said Lisa Pedersen, CEO of Humane Society of Boulder Valley. "The new adoption center will allow us to be an even stronger pet resource for our communities and will enable us to save more lives."
