San Diego Metropolitan Magazine has named April Alvillar, President and Founder of Dogs on the Run, to their 40 under 40 list.
Nominations were accepted for someone it is felt has made outstanding contributions to his or her profession, industry or to San Diego County as a whole.
Alvillar is the President and Founder of Dogs on the Run, a pet sitting and dog walking business in the San Diego area. The company has grown to over 45 pet care professionals in a variety of cities and states and they are active in the San Diego community.
Founded in 2003, Dogs on the Run services San Diego, Orange County, Temecula, & Palm Springs - California, Fort Collins & Woodland Park - Colorado, and Nashville - Tennessee.
“Whether it’s providing pet food, leashes, collars, and other pet supplies to Brother Bennos or working with the Escondido Humane Society during their summer camps to help educate children on pet care, I truly enjoy giving back,” Alvillar shared. “It’s an honor to be included on this list with so many other successful individuals!”
Some of the other things that Dogs on the Run is involved in includes “Presents 4 Pets,” a collective drive with all supplies gathered being given to local shelters and rescue organizations. In 2007, Alvillar helped to gather supplies for wild fire evacuees at specific centers. They also provide donations to foundations including the Morris Animal Foundation (Canine Cancer Research), Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and various Humane Societies.
Some of the other awards Dogs on the Run and Alvillar have received include runner-up for the “Business of the Year” and “Members in Action” by the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters, “The Best Dog Sitting/Walking Service” by Ranch & Coast Magazine and “Talk of the Town” for excellence in customer satisfaction.
