Vet Guru herbal pet supplement strips have been introduced to the pet industry marketplace by veterinarian, Dr. Douglas Kramer. Kramer has developed what he calls a “revolutionary delivery system for pet therapeutics.”
As an alternative to dispensing pills or foul-tasting tablets to pets, Kramer’s product dissolves in seconds in a pet’s mouth when the strip comes in contact with saliva. The technology, it appears, is similar to the Listerine mouth strips that people use.
Dr. Kramer reported, “Fusion medicine and an integrative, holistic approach are clearly the path of the future for pet care. We are combining the best qualities of traditional herbal therapeutics with cutting-edge modern technology. The clinical results and improved benefits to the patient cannot be understated.”
The product is being touted with sublingual absorption and able to be absorbed through a pet’s oral cavity and not the lining of their stomach. One of the main benefits is the strips are believed to be more effective and act in a shorter amount of time than traditional dispensing of medication to pets.
One of the main goals and features of the product is to avoid what is called “first pass metabolism,” wherein the liver is avoided when medications are swallowed. As a result, potential adverse and/or harmful reactions and interactions in the stomach are avoided.
The Vet Guru company was founded in 2006 by Dr. Kramer to develop what he feels are innovative pet products based on both herbal and holistic formulations. It is believed this new product will encourage better pet owner compliance. With their portability and convenient packaging, they are much easier to administer than larger pills or tablets.
