Pet Store Pro, a no-cost online training program for pet store retailers offered by the Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA), has announced the launch of two new merchandising courses. The courses were developed in conjunction with PIDA’s partnership with RetailTraining.com.
With their new Communication for Managers course, Pet Store Pro has geared this track towards skills managers can use to help develop their employees and maximize productivity. Included in the course will be pet-specific examples and interactive knowledge.
In the Merchandising Fundamentals course, operational essentials for lighting, signage, stocking, cross merchandising and retention, and the fundaments of why merchandising matters will be explained.
Advanced Merchandising will focus on creating an environment that welcomes customers with design displays that sell and help trigger purchases of an impulse nature. Some of the topics in this course include visual design principles and techniques, how impulse triggers prompt customers to buy, and identifying merchandising opportunities and in-store impulse zones.
Pet Store Pro is free of charge to qualified retailers through certain distributor partners and the PIDA. Pet Store Pro was created specifically for retail pet stores by distributor partners and the Pet Industry Distributors Association.
The Pet Industry Distributors Association was formed in 1968 with the purpose to promote progress in the pet industry and conduct programs and activities on behalf of the wholesaler-distributor. They are also a co-sponsor of the annual Global Pet Expo that occurs in Florida every spring. Membership in PIDA includes pet product wholesaler-distributors, livestock wholesalers, and pet product manufacturers.
