Chef Michaels line has debuted their first food truck for dogs in the Boston area. According to a recent survey conducted by Kelton for Chef Michael’s line, more than 84 percent of dog owners surveyed believed mealtime is a perfect opportunity to show dogs how much they love him or her.
Joe Chatman, Chef Michael's Brand Manager, stated, “"While the culinary world has embraced the food truck trend, dogs have largely been left out. Chef Michael's doesn't think that's right. Why shouldn't dogs have food trucks too?"
The same survey revealed that six out of 10 dog owners think food trucks for dogs should be allowed to participate in festivals and events that are dedicated to food trucks. The survey was among 801 Americans 18 years of age and older who are parents to at least one dog. Margin of error was 3.5 percentage points.
Chef Michaels is housed under the Nestle Purina PetCare umbrella. Dog owners can get involved with the food truck by following on Twitter @thefoodfordogs or on their Facebook page, facebook.com/foodfordogs. In mid-July, Chef Michaels will launch a “paw-tition” for people to sign in support of food trucks for dogs.
"Pet owners have spoken and it's clear that what a dog eats should be just as remarkable as who the dog is," said Chatman. "Our Food Truck for Dogs is a reminder to everyone that dogs deserve a great meal experience too."
Some of the flavors in the Chef Michaels line include beef short rib, stewed chicken flavor, and braised brisket flavor, all in a savory sauce. They also offered dry dinners and adult dog flavors of oven roasted chicken flavor or grilled sirloin steak flavor.
In conjunction with the food truck launch, Chef Michaels also rolled out the “Chef Michael's Food for Dogs Sweepstakes,” wherein people can enter to win a culinary adventure in New York City courtesy of Food Network Magazine and Chef Michael's. For more details, visit
