The Sit a Dog, Save a Life program allows all sitters participating with Rover.com, who are identified by a badge on their Rover.com profile, to donate some or all of their pet sitting proceeds to a pet-related charity. There has been a 150 percent increase in donations month over month since May of 2012.

The founder of Rover.com is Greg Gottesman, who developed the idea after a frightening experience with a local kennel.
