MARS Petcare U.S. Announces Pedigree Brand Wet Dog Food Voluntary Recall
On June 30, 2012, Mars Petcare US announced a voluntary recall of a limited range of PEDIGREE weight management canned dog food in three varieties due to a potential choking risk.
The official update on the PEDIGREE website detailed, “Cans of this product may contain small pieces of blue plastic, which broke off a conveyor belt during the production process. The issue has been resolved at our manufacturing facility by replacing a conveyor belt with a redesigned tracking mechanism.”
The three affected canned food products include PEDIGREE + healthy weight premium ground entrée in meaty juices, PEDIGREE weight management meaty ground dinner beef liver and dinner in meaty juices, and PEDIGREE weight management meaty ground dinner chicken and rice dinner in meaty juices.
The statement went on to reveal that only the above-mentioned canned PEDIGREE dog foods with the production codes in the chart below are included in the voluntary recall. The product has the lot code printed on the end of the can that begins with 209, 210, 211, or 212 and a best before date that falls between 2/24/14 and 3/23/14.
